Thank you, Jim Geraghty, for reminding us of this dose of nightmare fuel.

Geraghty's point is that Rudy led the GOP field for most of 2007, despite his pro-choice record and a bunch of other fundamental problems with Republican voters. Rudy had a stronger GOP field to contend with, but he also had a folk hero status, for independents and for Republicans, that Trump doesn't quite have.
