CNN asks voters* what they think of the policy riders Republicans were going to the mat over. Surprise: None of them have majority support. In descending order of unpopularity:
The discretionary spending fight is supposed to be the easy one, and so it is. There is no great public desire to defund these particular programs once they're offered up. There's a clue to why they were traded away. The Democrats' closing argument on Friday -- that the GOP was willing to shut everything down over Title X -- was a powerful one, a rarity for them.
