The A.V. Club Makes a Travel Show for Pop Culture Geeks

In 2009, on the occasion of the film's 40 th birthday, A.V. Club editor Keith Phipps retraced the road tripfrom Easy Rider in a five-part seriesfor Slate .Now the A.V. Club has launched a whole Web series about notable places inAmerican pop culture history, called Pop Pilgrims . If you'restuck at home over the long weekend but find yourself itching to get the helloutta Dodge, these five-minute excursions may help soothe your wanderlust. Andyou'll learn stuff! Like the fact that Die Hard i s an excellent demonstration of classicalAristotelian unity , and that the Graduate team did not clean up after themselves once they left United Methodist Church (but that the Wayne's World folks did).

Here's the show's visit to San Francisco's 900 LombardStreet, where Jimmy Stewart's character lives in Vertigo :

The Pop Pilgrim steam is going to be visiting 12 cities over the course of 12 weeks; so far they'vehit Los Angeles and San Francisco, and next week they'll be arriving inMemphis. (Personally, I can't wait for their stopover in Austin, where they'llbe dropping in on the office building from OfficeSpace on a Monday, I assume .)

The 12 th location is up for grabs; you can nominate your favorite popculture landmark here .
