Two points about the HEROIC, HEARTWARMING story of how the MetaFilter community saved a pair of Russian girls from being trafficked as sex slaves :
1. The original poster, Dan Reetz, goes by the screen name "fake." He is involved with something called the Fakeproject Corporation of America . Just saying.
2. He appears to be a tech-savvy digital artist and a visual neuroscientist. Yet he also appears to need help with elementary Internet tasks like finding contact information for the Russian consulate .
I'm inclined to believe this story, but those two things jumped out at me. Is there anything else about this story that seems fishy?
