Right-thinking pundits have been talking about Donald Trump’s mutable belief-system since the walking hairdo started intimating another possible run for President in the fall. On the Today Show this morning , correspondent Savannah Guthrie pointed out his change of heart when it comes to abortion. Back in 1999, Trump was “totally pro-choice.” In 2011, not so much. Amanda Hess at TBD explained Trump’s new position last week, based on an interview Trump gave to CBN. Trump said:
“A friend of mine, his wife was pregnant, in this case married, and she was pregnant, and he was going to-they were going to-he didn’t really want the baby. And he was telling me the story, he was crying as he was telling me. They ended up for some reason-amazingly, through luck, because they didn’t have the right timing-he ends up having the baby. And the baby is the apple of his eye. He says it’s the greatest thing that ever happened to him … And I am pro-life.”
I’m sure his friend’s baby mama choosing life is truly why Trump is now pro-life. It probably has nothing to do with his wanting to appeal to the Republican base. No sir, nothing at all. Clip from the Today Show is below (the bit about abortion is at the very end).
