Wow. What an astonishing and deeply disturbing post about the way Indian authorities humiliate and violate victims during their rape “investigations.” There’s some sort of synergy in the news this week around women’s rights issues. Between that Human Rights Watch Report and the Times story about Afghan girls made by their families to masquerade as boys because girls are nearly worthless, and the Washington Post story about the plight of Iraqi children of moms raped by al-Qaeda, and the Time story about newborns in India getting no medical care because their moms are considered unclean after birth …
After all that, all I want to do today is cry.
