Mel Gibson’s career survived his last embarrassment when during his arrest for drunk driving he launched into an anti-Semitic and sexist rant. But people in Hollywood are now saying that the actor’s career is finished in light of the release of tapes made by his former girlfriend in which he threatens to kill her, acknowledges beating her, and uses the n-word. He could end up being prosecuted for domestic abuse. (Will he flee to Switzerland and try to hang out with Roman Polanski? Nah, Polanski’s Jewish.) Gibson has been dropped by his longtime agency, and this article in the New York Post says his troubles could kill the release of his latest movie. The movie, directed by Gibson friend Jodie Foster (!), is called The Beaver . That’s right, The Beaver . It’s about a man with emotional troubles who only speaks through a beaver puppet he wears on his hand.
That Mel Gibson is a violent misogynist, racist, and anti-Semite I find completely unsurprising. That he is starring in a movie called The Beaver , about a man who wears a beaver puppet on his hand, well, that defies credulity.
