What do Alaska Sen. Mark Begich, Arkansas Sen. Mark Pryor, Louisiana Sen. Mary Landrieu, and North Carolina Sen. Kay Hagan have in common? They're all Democrats elected in states that went for Mitt Romney. What does Virginia Sen. Mark Warner have in common with them? Warner's only just drawn a decent challenger, former RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie.*
Why am I making a boring iterative list of these people? All of them have co-sponsored the Kirk-Menendez Iran sanctions bill. As Greg Sargent reports, Senate Democrats are being asked to meet with the president on Wednesday, where this will probably come up. And, hey, the presence of safe-as-milk New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker on the list suggests that "being closely tied to Israel hawks and donors who feel that way" or "actually believing in Iran sanctions" are even better predictors of one's position on this bill. Heck of a coincidence, though.
*I originally relied on a botched version of the sponsorship list and included New Hampshire Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, who's not on board.
