When the Bradley Manning verdict came down yesterday, I was trolling around the Senate, asking for reactions. Here’s what I came up with—general satisfaction that Manning would go to jail, some disappointment that he wasn’t convicted of “aiding the enemy.” Had he been, and had the precedent been established that merely leaking information that terrorists could use was treason, national security journalism would have changed forever.
