The DoJ’s New (Leaked) Guidelines Would Have Prevented the James Rosen Email Sneak

The DoJ’s report on “news media policies,” first discussed by Charlie Savage, is online here via the Huffington Post. Here’s the part that looks new:

Why, you’re probably thinking of the warrant that named Fox News’ James Rosen as a “co-conspirator” in an investigation of a State Department leak, prying from a judge the right to read Rosen’s Gmail account. This change of heart happened with remarkable speed. Only three weeks ago, Eric Holder was calling the investigation that ensnared Rosen “necessary and appropriate.”
