My latest Slate dispatch comes from a smallish gun rally in DC, across the street from the White House meeting with preferred gun control (gun safety!) advocates. Conclusions? The remarkable peace between compromisers (just pass ANYTHING) and hard-liners is keeping, mostly, and the movement realizes it's got to win in the states instead of just expecting the hold-out Republicans and Democrats to collapse.
