Hillary 2016 Supporters Are an Intrepid Bunch

Supporters of the Ready for Hillary PAC rallied outside Washington’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Tuesday night, where Hillary Clinton made her first public appearance since stepping down as Secretary of State.

About 35 people showed up Tuesday night outside Washington’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, where Hillary Clinton was making her first public appearance since stepping down as Secretary of State. Coincidentally, it was also the first public appearance for the Ready for Hillary PAC, which you can and should read more about here. I asked a few of the group’s members what brought them out on a chilly April evening two years and eight months ahead of the Iowa caucuses.

Ross Berry, 18, and Evan DeFrancesco, 18, freshmen at George Washington University

Most Eager: Just look at those two.

Lynn Olson, 66, children’s dental health advocate

Best Historic Campaign Cred: Lynn campaigned for Geraldine Ferraro in 1984.
Notable quote: “I was in Montgomery County for Hillary in 2008, and I will be there again.”

Michela Masson, 18, freshman at George Washington University

Best Impromptu, Vaguely Threatening Slogan:
Ross: “She’s unstoppable.”
Michela: “We will make her unstoppable.”

Ray Anderson

Most Pragmatic Reason for Supporting Hillary: “Supreme Court appointments.”
Notable quote: “Just as Hubert Humphrey was tied down by the Vietnam War, Hillary was tied down by the Iraq War.”

Hazel Rigby, 77, retired teacher

Best Overall Campaign Cred: Hazel was a delegate in 2008, representing Virginia’s 8th congressional district.
Notable quote: “I will have it on my tombstone that I supported Hillary Clinton … I full plan for it to be written there.” (she assured me she was not joking.)

Ronda Bernstein, 42, historical consultant

Most Die-Hard Hillary Supporter: A supporter since 1991, Ronda worked at Hillary’s campaign headquarters up through the last day of the 2008 primary, but never campaigned for Obama. She made sure to bring her 2008 yard sign.
Notable quote: “If she decided to run, she doesn’t have to worry about putting together a network. It’s there. It’s just waiting for her.”

And Best Sign goes to…
