I’m in the Senate today as the Armed Services Committee decides how tough to be with Chuck Hagel.
Jennifer Rubin continues to insist that Democrats are doing permanent damage to themselves by backing Hagel.
This is a lose-lose for Schumer. Either he’s the man who paved the way for the most anti-Israel defense secretary in history or he’s the guy humiliated when the Hagel nomination fails. Either way the White House has done him no favors.
Schumer got 71 percent of the vote in 2004 and 66 percent in the Democrats’ awful 2010. He’s not up again for four years. But surely he’s quaking.
