Are 85 Percent of Voters Really Opposed to the Norquist Pledge?

Quinnipiac asks whether voters want their representatives to sign Grover Norquist’s taxpayer protection pledge. The phrasing is a little unfair. Screen shot 2012-12-07 at 11.01.40 AM But the pledge doesn’t command Republicans to block any increased “taxes on corporations or the wealthy.” It commands them to vote against any net tax increase. They could change the code in a way that doesn’t particularly benefit the wealthy? All this poll proves is that Democratic campaigns against Norquist and GOP obstruction have started paying off… which, I guess, is actually more important than the facts of the pledge.
