I'd been hearing a lot about Martha Zoller, a House candidate in Georgia endorsed by leading conservative lights -- Gingrich! Palin! Santorum! Cain! It was an effective campaign of a-courtin' on Zoller's part. She lost her runoff anyway.

The "Akin = every Republican" meme bounces from the blogs to the New York Times. Gentlemen, start your scrambling!

“I have time and again spoken out against this to leadership,” said Representative Robert Dold of Illinois, who is in a tough re-election battle. “I’ve tried to talk to them about the issues that we ought to be moving forward on, like out-of-control spending.”

Reince Priebus, America's least-convincing tough-talker.

The nice thing about going first is that whatever they do to us, we can do ten times over to them.

And I hadn't realized that junk historian David Barton had endorsed Akin.
