Meanwhile, the latest theory in the Bainosphere concerns Romney's 2009 tax bill. Is it possible that he paid almost nothing that year? Well, how can we know?

The question matters (insofar as any Bain query matters) because the people who vetted Romney in 2008, like John McCain and his team, obviously never saw the 2009 forms. This point keeps getting lost in the discussions.

And the Washington Post fact-checks the Romney "crony capitalism" line and finds it lacking; ironic, because the line largely relies on WaPo stories by Carol Leonning and others.
