Opening Act: If This Is True

A tip from me to anyone who reads the news in the future: News does not begin with “if this is true.” We all make mistakes, but one of your first instincts when seeing a new decision should be to check what side Scalia/Thomas were on. It beggars belief that these anchors didn’t do that.
James Fallows, whose “long-term coup” theory of the court made it around the world a few times, salutes Roberts.

The main point is: the observable facts about the Chief Justice’s vision and beliefs are very significantly different today from what they were before 10am EDT. The change is all to the good, for the Court and the country.
