Barack Obama Outraised for First Time Since 2007

The last time Barack Obama lost a fundraising battle against an electoral opponent was the final quarter of 2007 when Hillary Clinton outraised him $27 million to $23 million in their Democratic primary race.

Today, Mitt Romney announced that he and the RNC had raised $76 million in May. Obama and the DNC’s total was $60 million.

For old time’s sake, here’s a clip of Tim Russert at a 2008 Democratic primary debate grilling then-candidate Barack Obama on his then-impending decision to break a campaign promise and forego public financing.
