“Hiring a Gay Spokesman? Not Conservative.’

Dan Gainor is the vice president of business and culture at the Media Research Center, for whom he writes pieces about the MSM’s unfair coverage of “pink slime” and shocking exposes about the Huffington Post’s liberal editorial slant. He’s also a busy tweeter who uses the medium to make known his feelings about gay people. After Richard Grennell got hired as Mitt Romney’s national security spokesman, and the American Family Association’s Bryan Fischer got all verklempt about it, Gainor began a series of arguments with tweeters about the un-conservative nature of the hire.
It was a pretty simple argument, so he kept repeating it.

But he was able to find allies.
Anyway, the critics weren’t the sort that someone like Gainor needed to take seriously. A little backstory: In 2010, Gainor took umbrage at a tweet in which I referred obliquely to “anti-gay marriage bigots.” It was a dumb tweet, because lots of people oppose gay marriage for principled reasons. Anyway, there are far better demonstrations of what anti-gay bigotry is.
