Opening Act: Troubling

Every time I write something about the Hilary Rosen outrage (fauxtrage?), some wiseacre snarks that The Media was perfectly okay with pundit-campaign accountability during the Susan Fluke story. My only response is this Katha Pollitt column, which cites me as typical dismissive anti-feminist who didn’t want to pile on Limbaugh.

Slate’s Dave Weigel, for example, points out helpfully that Rush is “a private citizen who hasn’t endorsed any presidential candidate,” so it’s unfair for the “Democratic media complex” to attack him for this bit of “classic Rush, sort of.” (Apparently it’s no big deal for Rush to smear his vile viciousness all over Sandra Fluke, a private citizen.)
The Fox News poll about the Obama/Medvedev hot mic: Screen shot 2012-04-12 at 6.22.57 PM Pretty even, actually, but you wonder how much saturation the story got.
