The Rick Santorum Theme Song, Brought to You by the Author of the Herman Cain Theme Song

Krista Branch has built quite the career for herself as the muse of the insurgent conservative candidate. In 2011, Herman Cain adopted her thumping track “I Am America” as his official theme song – it was the one that played whenever his head slowly turned at the end of his web ads.

Rick Santorum has announced that he will officially adopt another Branch song as one of his campaign themes. (He already has one, “Game On,” from two admirers in Oklahoma. I met them in Alabama this week; they’re starting to go where he goes.)

“Our campaign has focused on returning to a government that believes in the American people again,” explains Santorum in a not-at-all-canned-sounding statement, “and few songs express the beauty and strength of who we are as free Americans better than Krista’s. ‘It’s our time,’ as the song says - our time to take a firm, unwavering stand against big government; and it is our time to take our country back.”

Fair enough, but I think the best Branch song is this cover, “Lead Me On,” which she’s interpreted as a Zionist anthem.
