The Aliens Have Come for Our Black People

When he unveiled the Derrick Bell video on Hannity last night, Breitbart.com’s Joel Pollak labored to explain why the late professor was so offensive.

Derrick Bell got into serious trouble when he wrote an essay, a fictional story, called Space Traders, positing that Americans, white Americans would sell black Americans to space aliens in order to pay out the national debt and that Jews would stand by and let it happen. This is a kind of background Derrick Bell had.
This is true. “Space Traders” was actually turned into a short film, as part of the 1994 black sci-fi anthology Cosmic Slop. Screen shot 2012-03-08 at 10.11.40 AM Named after a Parliament/Fundadelic song, hosted by the disembodied head of George Clinton, the movie dramatized what would happen if aliens (the leader of whom looks and talks like Ronald Reagan) offered eternal prosperity in exchange for America’s population of black people. And sure, I could keep describing it, but the entire clip is on YouTube.
Without wanting to spoil it too much, I’ll just say that Robert Guillaume plays a black member of the Republican cabinet that’s debating the trade, and Casey Kasem plays the host of a TV special aimed at defeating the “let the aliens take the black people” referendum. Eject all of the black athletes, and “we’d never have another dream team!”
