If I were Newt Gingrich -- or really, any conservative activist -- I'd call out the Alinskyism on display. Oklahoma, where Democrats are basically powerless, had to knock down a bill like this. It's a bit of meme, meant to ridicule the very idea of fetal personhood by mocking restrictions on birth control. The Catholic Church (just to name the biggest plaintiff in the conscience clause fight) opposes birth control that destroys an egg that might have been implanted, but it also opposes condoms. That's mockable! And so it gets mocked.
