The solution: Schedule a press call with John Sununu, the former governor of New Hampshire, speaking as the lead surrogate. For a call about Ohio. The media loves violent rhetoric (hello, Sarah Palin!), and so this washes over the message that the campaign had meant to push: DeWine backed Santorum because the two of them are squishy defenders of restoring felon voting rights.
