MSNBC will host me after 11 a.m. for a short discussion of the Obama administration’s birth control coverage mandate. Right on time, the Public Religion Research Institute asks real humans whether they approve of the decision. Should we be surprised? White mainline protestants and evangelicals are far more disturbed by the end of the conscience clause than Catholics are. This doesn’t track neatly against abortion – there, you’ve got more mainline protestants comfortable with abortion, generally, and far fewer evangelicals.
