It’s been nearly 48 hours since Michele Bachmann’s presidential campaign asked supporters to “show your support by tweeting your outrage to CBSNEWS and John Dickerson or posting on Facebook to give them a piece of your mind.” The outrage, of course, was that Dickerson – Slate’s senior political writer – accidentally cc’d Bachmann’s spokeswoman on an e-mail about whether CBS could get a better guest than Bachmann on the post-debate show. Ben Smith first noticed that the Twitter crusade wasn’t going anywhere; I checked in today to see if there were new tweets. Not really. All I found:

There are actually more visible tweets complaining about Ron Paul than there are about Bachmann. When I saw Dickerson yesterday, he mused that the Bachmann crusade had only inspired as many angry e-mails as any article he writes. I think that’s cause to revisit the great question of June: Is Bachmann a suitable replacement for Sarah Palin, a sort of methadone to her pure uncut Chinese rock? It doesn’t look that way. Bachmann’s Facebook note calling for a mass hassling of CBS News has been shared 742 times, after articles about it in Politico and the New York Times. A note from Palin calling for Eric Holder to resign got much less coverage but more shares.
As long as we’re discussing who has the clout to be in GOP debates, this little sideshow doesn’t help Bachmann’s case.
