The new CBS News/NYT poll asks people (1650 “adults,” if you want to get specific) how things are going, and how to make them better. Answer to the first question: Terribly. Answer to the second question: Do what the Democrats are saying. Regulatory reform is popular, but corporate tax cuts, which are key components of every 2012er’s economic plan, are going over like lead zeppelins.
Who do Americans want to tax? Millionaires. The ballyhooed 1 Percent. They really, really want to tax those people. Approximately four times as many Republicans want to tax those people as say they approve of Congress.
This is a good appetizer for today’s big Paul Ryan speech, in which the president will be called out for class warfare.
