Maybe I shouldn't worry about Cain getting dinged by what NOM is doing here. As usual, the guy blew the doors off the room.
I counted more than a dozen moments of hearty applause, and six real standing ovations. One of these was extremely telling about the promise that this black presidential candidate offers the Republican base. He repeated back -- as he often does -- the questions of reporters, asking him what blacks should expect from an America that had once oppressed them. Nothing, said Cain. "I achieved all of my American dreams and then some!" The explosion of applause reflected what Cain, and all black Republicans, promise white conservatives.
