If you missed it yesterday, my new piece explains where the Perry Gardasil controversy came from, how he neutralized one line of attack over it, and how Bachmann’s stunning “anti-vaxxer” own goal might have bailed him out. A point I didn’t make in the piece, because it is obvious – you often get only one shot to broil a candidate over an old scandal. After some point, it becomes “old news,” schlepped by oppo researchers to uninterested reporters. And Perry’s systematic deletion of gubernatorial emails means that we’re not likely to get new breaks in the story through 2012.
