Count me among the many who scratched their heads at this New York Post story, which sources the extraordinary claim that some Jewish donors are opting for Bachmann over Romney to “one Romney fund-raiser.” Erik Wemple is already trying to report out the story, but who thinks these donors actually exist? Who’s the wealthy Jewish donor who sees this and says “oh, yeah, she’s one of us”?
Haaretz publishes its own take on the story, one that mostly CTRL+Cs the Post but gets at the probably truth – Bachmann spends time cultivating Jewish donors by announcing her 110 percent support for Israel. And some Romney donor, possibly, wants to scotch this. Presto: a weird story that the Post “has learned.”
