David Wu, Exit Stage “Whuh?’

Blue Oregon scoops the resignation letter that the soon-former congressman hand-wrote in blue ink.

There is no other job where you get up every day and ask, “How can I try to make the world a better place today.” Of particular signifigance to me in this effort to improve the world is investing in more and better science and education.

And so on. We will find out in due course what exactly Wu did with a young high school grad after Thanksgiving last year. Given that he resigned, we probably won’t like the story. But I, for one, was fond of Wu’s goofy optimism. It’s a shame, really, that we won’t have a member of Congress who struggled with mental health issues and survived to tell about how they can be overcome. We’ve got a late-night punchline, as if we needed another one of those.
