I, Michele Bachmann, Pledge to End Pornography

If you’re confused about the “candidate vow” Michele Bachmann just signed, be confused no longer. The document from the Iowa Family Leader is below; candidates have until August 1 to sign it. And the IFL has been getting what it wants from candidates.
Family Leader Pledge

Screen shot 2011-07-08 at 9.41.42 AM Yes, the part that jumps out is the promise to protect “the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy: the pledge to protect women from pornography. Cue: Panic about what Republicans are signing their names to; cue another round of dumbfounding about why these groups keep demanding the GOP to fill out written pledges that ThinkProgress (which scooped this) can beat like a bongo in a drum circle. I’m just strick that social conservatism, in the 2012 Iowa Caucuses, has to be codified like this. Bachmann’s debut ad in Iowa makes no reference to social issues; she punts on chances to talk about gay marriage, saying that the election is all about the economy.
