Bachmann Leads in Two States

Well, what do you know?

In Oregon Bachmann gets 29% to 28% for Romney, 10% for Ron Paul, 9% for Newt Gingrich, 7% for Herman Cain, 6% for Tim Pawlenty, and 2% for Jon Huntsman. In Montana she leads with 25% to 22% for Romney, 11% for Gingrich, 10% for Paul, 9% for Pawlenty, 8% for Cain, and 4% for Huntsman.

Oregon is a fairly late primary state; Montana has been a Super Tuesday caucus state. The path to a smooth victory for Romney includes big wins in caucus states – he won them all, save Iowa, before dropping out of the 2008 primary. That year, Paul did extremely well in Montana, coming in second place. Paul had enough of a following for the Constitution Party to give him its Montana nomination – which he didn’t want! – in the general election. And here, for now, the anti-establishment vote goes to Bachmann.
