While you’re all making puns about Anthony Weiner,* the nomination of John Bryson to serve as Commerce Secretary – Commerce Secretary! – is becoming a political football

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), a member of the Senate Republican leadership team, called Bryson an “environmental extremist” in the Capitol Tuesday because he co-founded NRDC in the 1970s.
And he pointed to a comment from a March 2009 speech in which Bryson called the cap-and-trade bill that narrowly passed the House in 2009 a “moderate, but acceptable bill.”
He called it acceptable ? He called a bill that never made it to the Senate and will never, ever pass acceptable ? If he doesn’t hurry he’s going to miss his train to the Finland Station! Also, Republicans have produced a 2009 video of Bryon that inspires my favorite lede of the day.
