This is the “Blair Witch Project” of tracker videos. You see the camera shaking. He screams like an eight-year-old girl – which is how old Jane Corwin was when she was claims to have been a ‘successful businesswoman’ – and that’s it. They seem to make it like some Oscar-nominated production.
No apologies! No mercy! The Jack Davis campaign has solidified a strict reporter-shoving policy – the first of its kind since the good old days of Andrew Jackson’s press corps.*
In a normal two-way election I’d assume that Davis’s inability to hold his temper around a cameraman would disqualify him. But he’s the third candidate in a special election. His voters are angry independents, Republicans, and Democrats who see “Tea Party” next to his name and say “hell yes, that guy!” Republicans, in order to win this election, need to drive down his numbers and win his votes. The ads from the NRCC and American Crossroads, interestingly, are all about Davis. The theory goes that if he falls to 10 percent or so, the Democrat, Kathy Hochul, can’t possibly win 45 percent of the vote and take the election. But it’s such a weird election, and Davis’s appeal is so inscrutable, that who knows what’ll happen? Bob Etheridge bear-hugged a cameraman in 2010 and nearly won re-election anyway.
