Gingrich for President Starts in 48 Hours or So

Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler said Gingrich will announce the decision on Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, and will sit down for an interview with conservative Fox News pundit Sean Hannity on Wednesday night. He plans to make his "first announcement speech" at the Georgia Republican Party convention on Friday.

By giving the speech there he becomes the only non-Buddy Roemer white Southerner* in the race and takes at least some of the buzz away from Herman Cain's keynote speech. Why didn't Newt announce last week and get into the debate? There were good reasons related to the well-funded think tank and entertainment empire he's built .

*Sort of. He's an army brat from Pennsylvania originally, but he's lived in the South his whole professional life.
