MADISON, Wisc. – I didn’t pay much attention to the end of Chicago’s mayoral campaign, being busy in this city a couple hours north. I seem to have missed the entirely race-based closing argument of Carol Moseley Braun’s bid. Her TV ad:

There are few thing in politics more pathetic than the Clarence Royce-style ethnic appeal that doesn’t even work. According to the Chicago Reporter, Braun lost the black vote handily to Rahm Emanuel. He got around 59 percent of the vote in black wards; she got 21 percent.
