The biggest national figure in a Rahm-less race is former Sen. Carol Moseley-Braun. She is also absolutely nowhere on fundraising. The second-biggest fundraiser after Rahm is Gerry Chico, a former school board official who lost a U.S. Senate primary in 2004 to – wait for it – Barack Obama.
The state Supreme Court, which consists of four Democrats and three Republicans, can hear the case; even if his campaign makes it on the ballot again, this creates a problem logistically for election officials, and a problem in the race as candidates proceed with the assumption they will not face him.
