Romney Wins New Hampshire GOP Straw Poll, Ron Paul Comes Second

A very, very small straw poll – limited to 426 registered members of the state Republican committee, of which 273 participated – gives Mitt Romney the lead in his 2012 must-win state. Results :

Mitt Romney - 35 percent
Ron Paul - 11 percent
Tim Pawlenty - 8 percent
Sarah Palin - 7 percent
Michele Bachmann - 5 percent
Jim DeMint - 5 percent
Herman Cain - 4 percent
Chris Christie - 3 percent
Rick Santorum - 3 percent
Mitch
Daniels - 3 percent
Newt Gingrich - 3 percent
Mike Huckabee - 3 percent
Mike Pence - 3 percent
Rudy Giuliani - 2 percent
Judd Gregg - 2 percent
Gary Johnson - 2 percent
Donald Trump - 1 percent
Haley Barbour - 1 percent
John Huntsman - 0 percent
John Thune - 0 percent

Even more interesting, via Amy Walter, are the answers to a question about what the GOP’s priorities should be:

Reducing the size of the federal government: 49 percent
Reducing the size of federal debt/deficit 15 percent
Stimulating the economy to create jobs; 14 percent
Repealing health care: 7 percent

It’s such a small sample that we can’t read too much into it; it’s no secret that the state’s Republican leaders are more libertarian than those in other states.
