Herman Cain Snaps Up Americans for Prosperity Activist to Help With 2012 Bid

I interviewed the dark horse 2012 GOP presidential candidate* last week for a profile that’ll run soon, and he was very clear: He is “prayerfully” looking at the race and will definitely launch an exploratory committee this month. In the meantime he’s speaking wherever anyone will have him . The latest stop will be in Wisconsin, where his exploratory committee’s manager Mark Block used to run the state branch of Americans for Prosperity. Cain gives an interview to the local press:

Asked if anything would prevent him from declaring, he said, “Death.”

In any other year I don’t think a businessman and motivational speaker who’s never been elected to anything would merit more attention than, say, Morry Taylor. And if you remember Morry Taylor, he tried to capitalize on the Perot movement, thinking Americans were ready for another random businessman to make a run, then went nowhere. But this is too odd an election cycle to ignore Cain.

*He has as much experience in elected office as Wendell Wilkie!
