Poll: Voters Oppose Payroll Tax Cut

This is a bit of a surprise in the ABC News/Washington Post poll , as the payroll tax cut has become one of the very few things economics on all sides see to be a good stimulus.

For each item I name, please tell me if it's something you support strongly, support somewhat, oppose somewhat or oppose strongly... Cutting Social Security payroll taxes by two percentage points for all workers for the next year.

Strongly Support - 18 percent
Somewhat Support - 21 percent
Somewhat Oppose - 18 percent
Strongly Oppose - 39 percent

That's a 57-39 margin against.
