The gap between the media’s coverage of Rahm-the-tough-guy and the left’s image of Rahm-the-wimp is huge, it expanded over the course of five years, and it’s well-explained in Ari Berman’s new book about the Democrats.
“I thought we’d get the guy who busted balls in the House,” says Markos Moulitsas ,the founder of Daily Kos, one of many online salons of anti-Rahmsentiment. “Instead, we got a White House more obsessed with getting[Wyoming Republican Sen. Mike] Enzi aboard the health care reform planthan on passing the best possible legislation and doing whatever ittook to make it happen.”
