The procedural vote on DADT got 43 no votes, in part because of Republicans who say they’re waiting for December 1 for the Pentagon to release its study on how repeal would affect readiness. That suggests that another vote can come in the lame duck session, and that its fate depends on Alexi Giannoulias not making any more bad loans in Illinois.
Best comment on the vote comes from GOProud, which blames Harry Reid for not acquiescing to a consent agreement: “It’s clear now that Lady GaGa should have held her Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell repeal rally in Nevada instead of Maine.”
