Prosecutors: Bin Laden Sought Bradley Manning’s Wikileaks Documents

Osama bin Laden reportedly sought and obtained some of the Wikileaks cables allegedly leaked by Bradley Manning, the Army private accused of providing about 250 thousand confidential documents to Wikileaks.
Military prosecutors said they would present evidence at Manning’s trial, likely coming in June, that the late al-Qaida leader had mined the leak before his death in May 2011.
Manning has been in detention since May 2010, and he faces 22 charges, including espionage and aiding the enemy. A military judge earlier refused to dismiss charges against Manning over claims of mistreatment in detention.
Reports suggest Manning’s legal team is now trying to secure a plea deal before trial, seeking a sentence of no more than 20 years. If the trial proceeds, he faces the possibility of life without parole.
