Pro-Gun Talk-Radio Host Flips Out on Piers Morgan

Talk-radio host Alex Jones has turned heads before with claims that the U.S. government was behind the Oklahoma City bombing and the Sept. 11 attacks. But none of that quite prepared Piers Morgan for what would happen when Jones appeared on his show.

Jones created a petition to the White House to deport Morgan for favoring strict gun-control laws. More than 100,000 people have signed so far. But when Morgan asked him why he should be deported, Jones launched into a furious tirade that included Hitler, the New Delhi rape case, and “suicide mass murder pills.”

“The government buys 1.6 billion bullets; armored vehicles; tanks; helicopters; predator drones armed, now in U.S. skies, being used to arrest people in North Dakota,” Jones told the British host. “The Second Amendment isn’t there for duck hunting. It’s there to protect us from tyrannical government.”

From there, Jones became downright unhinged: “I’m here to tell you, 1776 will commence again if you try to take our firearms!” he said angrily. “Doesn’t matter how many lemmings you get out there on the street, begging for ’em to have their guns taken. We will not relinquish them. Do you understand?”

The White House says it will respond to Jones’ petition because it garnered so much support, adding that “freedom of expression is a bedrock principle in our democracy.”

Correction, Jan. 8: This article originally said Alex Jones claimed the government bought 1.6 million bullets. He claimed it bought 1.6 billion.
