Facebook and FBI Team To Take Down Cybercrime Ring

Here’s something to Like.

An $850-million Facebook botnet crime spree was foiled by the FBI and 10 suspects were arrested worldwide. Using a network of 11 million computers that were compromised by a virus and controlled remotely to steal credit-card numbers, bank-account information, and other personal details, the international gang was foiled after Facebook helped authorities target the source of the attacks and identify users who were hit.

Facebook users have been subject to cybercrimes before, most notably phishing attacks, where scammers trick users into identifying passwords and payment information. As in the real world, the site cautions users to be careful who you friend.
