After months of rumors, it’s now official: Prince William and Kate Middleton are expecting their first-born child. St James’s Palace confirmed the news after the Duchess of Cambridge suffered “acute morning sickness” severe enough to check into a hospital, where officials said she would remain for several days.
It remains unclear how far along Kate is, but the BBC said it is unlikely she has progressed past 12 weeks.
William and Kate’s wedding in April 2011 led to immediate speculation about when the couple would try for a baby, who would be third in line to the throne. Now we can all look forward to snark about royal maternity clothes and early betting on baby names.
