AT&T Last in Miserable Mobile-Provider Report

A new survey named AT&T as the nation’s most miserable mobile carrier, but it’s not alone: No major carrier rates above 72 percent approval, making wireless providers among the lowest-rated services in America.

The annual Consumer Reports survey handed top honors to Verizon Wireless, while AT&T remained at the bottom of the pack for the third year. Verizon was especially popular with the heaviest cell users among the 63,000 who participated in the survey. But the results vary significantly depending on locale: In Chicago, for instance, Verizon rated dead last among respondents, well below AT&T.

The survey offered a potential tonic for unhappy consumers: boutique carriers. Consumer Cellular, U.S. Cellular, and Credo Mobile, three small regional providers, satisfied 88 percent of their customers.
