As the scandal over their affair grinds into another week, Gen. David Petraeus and his biographer, Paula Broadwell, are struggling with the fallout.
A source close to Broadwell told the Associated Press that she’s devastated and “deeply regrets the damage that’s been done to her family and everyone else’s.” As for Petraeus, Newsweek reports the ex-CIA director was having a difficult time transitioning from military life, quoting an old friend of Petraeus as saying, “He didn’t realize how much retirement affected him personally. He hit a low point … He was vulnerable.”
Broadwell is still under investigation by the FBI, and her father, Paul Kranz, told Newsweek, “A lot more is going to come out.”
