Gabrielle Giffords gets to confront Jared Lee Loughner, the man who nearly killed her last year.
Along with her husband Mark Kelly, the former congresswoman is attending court today for the sentencing of Loughner, who shot Giffords in the head and killed six others during a rampage at a Tucson, Ariz. meet-and-greet in January 2011.
In what is likely to be an extremely emotional address, Kelly will address Loughner on behalf of him and his wife.
Loughner struck a plea deal with federal prosecutors that will keep him in jail for life, a result Giffords and Kelly supported, avoiding a long trial in which they’d have to relive the deadly shooting.
